A new love affair with Olives

Growing up I never liked olives. They always looked delicious, and sophisticated, but every time I tasted them they were way too salty for me to enjoy.Recently I shared some delicious Mediterranean food with some friends. Maybe it was the fact that I hadn't eaten all day or it was the wonderful company, but there were olives, on the plate, so I thought I'd give them a try. This particular time they were delicious! Spicy green pitted olives, that were sublime.Since then I've started venturing out and trying different types of olives. I have a fondness for the green pitted garlic and herb olives from whole foods. They are so mild, but rich in flavor.

Olives are wonderful, took me some time to get used to them, but thanks to Amy, I got hooked. She suggested I try them on pizza, and yes, it was good.

Yes- its me! I am a huge olive lover and helped Al find his way to olives. My toddler daughter shares my love of olives, too. As parents, my husband and I decided if my daughter was interested in it and pointed at it she could try it. (Spicy food within reason, I didn't want her to cry over it!) But she loves all sorts of food, like olives that toddlers would tend not to like. And there are so many uses for olives, pizza, pasta sauces, fish and chicken recipes, salads, spreads, in dips, on a muffuletta or my favorite-just in a bowl! And did I mention they are good for you.
