One of my classmates is Korean, she brought some delicious drink mixes that were barley and walnut based to school. I mixed it with hot water, and it was the awesome a little sweet, and it gave a boost of energy. It wasn't a porridge, more like a shake, but it had no dairy in it.I've been on the hunt for this tasty snack or something similar for about a week now. I'm starting to think the only way to have more is going to be to make something similar on my own, so far I have a flax seed powder, but I don't know what else to put in it. I'm thinking I should add some spirulina, but I'll save additions like that for the end when I know what other grains will mask the flavor of that stuff.

Sounds tasty - I love Korean food.
mmmm, that does sound good! I did a little reasearch for you to see if I could find you a recipe or a place to buy it. Was it called Sikhye? I found this blog entry that might be it...
Sikhye
Have you tried looking at Super 88 market? It is a great Asian market- I used to go to one in Boston (I think its gone, it was a small spot) but they opened a big one in Dorchester and in Quincy, probably some other locations too. Its been years since I've been there but they had an amazing selection.
