I'm not one to spend a lot of money on food if it can be avoided, but after watching King Corn recently, I was really blown away at how unethical it is to feed grain and corn to cows. From what I gathered from the film, cows cannot digest corn and grain in a healthy manner, and before too long, eating it kills them.
I keep thinking about those cows, and so at the grocer's I keep noticing the milk containers that say "milk from grass fed cows". Yes, its almost twice as expensive as the unlabeled milk containers, but I bought it anyway and I felt a heck of a lot better afterwards.
I still haven't tried it yet though. That will happen today. I finished up the last of the old milk yesterday, and I'm writing this post to prepare myself for a potentially different tasting milk. It might taste exactly the same. Who knows? Let's find out!
UPDATE: Honestly, I can't tell if it tastes any different, but I most definitely feel different drinking grass fed cow's milk - I feel better about it. Plus, I was pleased to find a store nearby that has it in quarter gallons. That way I can but a "whole milk" quart and one "one percent" quart.
