This is a striper(striped bass) that I caught over the summer. I believe I was using fresh chunk pogey baitfish in about 20 feet of water. I was fishing by myself, so I threw my shoe in the picture to give an idea of the size. This fish was 34” and weighed around 14 lbs. You could also count the 6 inch planks. It was kinda of a slow fishing season this year because of the overcast weather that seemed to hang around all summer. The sun usually heats up the water a few degrees inside the bay, but this season it seems like alot of the bigger fish didn’t come as far in.
The ones that came in and met me were delicious.

Oooh man that does look delicious. I've been fishing for striped bass only once years and years ago and didn't catch anything. Are they good fighters? I imagine at 34" and 14 lbs they would have to be.
Great fighters. I use 12 lb. test because there are fish up to 40 lbs. out there, but even then a good fight.
