I love that products are advertising the fact that they do not contain high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) as a purported benefit to consumers. In fact, out of personal preference, I've purchased two products which advertised the fact that they did not contain HFCS:
- Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice
- Kashi breakfast bars
Even though I used to love them, I've stopped buying Fig Newtons because they contain HFCS. When shopping, I also look at ingredients lists to see if products contain it. Its possible that I will purchase food products that contain HFCS, but I prefer not too. Many candies have HFCS, and I have to admit it, I occasionally do enjoy a piece of candy (or three)!
Why do I prefer to buy products without HFCS? I like fresh, unprocessed foods the best, and when that isn't practical, I prefer to purchase minimally processed organic food.
