I'm really getting into organic food these days. I've liked the idea of organic vegetables for awhile. Vegetables are an easy choice; they are more expensive, but still not as expensive as organic beef.
Then I watched King Corn and Food, Inc. and was so repelled by the idea of feeding corn to cows and the condition of food lots that I decided I wanted to eat grass fed beef. Most grass fed beef (and milk) is more expensive than some of the alternatives, so I figured I'd go full organic.
I bought some organic, grass-fed beef from Trader Joe's. It wasn't too too expensive, but I was surprised that its from Uruguay / Australia (see picture above). It must be either Uruguay or Australia, right?
How can it be cheaper for Trader Joe's to get organic, grass-fed beef from overseas than within the United States??
