The organic revolution took some time to take root with me. I still think that there are some things that aren't organic which are fine, but the rules defining what makes a product organic is making more and more sense to me.
A friend of mine bought some organic bananas while back and explained she likes organic because of the taste. Her explanation surprised me at the time because I'd assumed people solely chose they didn't want genetically modified food (GMO) or food treated with pesticides or radiation.
After watching King Corn, I decided to buy organic meat and chicken, because I don't like the idea that producers can use antibiotic drugs to combat infections which might have otherwise not been a risk had the animal been healthy and well treated. I have issues with the unethical treatment of animals, but I also have issue with the potential environmental impact of releasing so many antibiotics into the environment.
I'm writing this post today because I eventually bought some organic bananas. They taste awesome! I'm not sure if all organic bananas tasted as good as the ones I have now, but I sure hope so!
What other good reasons are there for choosing organic food? Are there any reasons not to choose organic food? What are your reasons?
